The 2023 Volkswagen Taos has a powerful, efficient engine with a standard 1.5-litre turbocharged inline-four that gives 158 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. FWD Taos models have an eight-speed automatic transmission, which minimizes fuel consumption over the six-speed option. AWD (4Motion) models have a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic for fast gear changes that maintain force and better fuel economy than a manual transmission. So far, the EPA has estimated the mileage for the 2023 Taos AWD to be 9.4 L/100 km in the city and 7.35 L/100 km on the highway.
